Befriending Service Volunteer for the Linking Lives Befriending Service Bedford
Linking Lives Befriending Service
Befriending Volunteers offer weekly/fortnightly contact by phone, home/café visit or a walk in the park visit to a lonely person. Ideally, we would like a 6-12 month commitment. Full training will be given. On going support will be given once volunteering has started.
The Linking Lives Befriending Service has grown out of the work already carried our by Project 41 which is the social action work run out of Woodside Church, Bedford. Our Befriending Service Volunteers contact/visit people who are aged 18+ in need of a listening ear and friendship. Befriending takes place via weekly telephone calls or home visits or maybe visiting a local café or walk around the park. When a good relationship has been established, support may be offered to help people to integrate into other activities in the local community. Ideally, we would like a 6-12 month commitment, but we understand that life events happen. Full training will be given.
