Careers Inspiration Volunteer
Working Options
Volunteers play a vital role in helping young people build the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need for their futures. Get involved by giving an industry talk, running a skills workshop, supporting a business challenge, hosting a workplace visit, or contributing digital content. We support you every step of the way with resources, briefings, and optional practice sessions. Your insight helps young people feel they belong in spaces they may never have imagined for themselves.
We’re the charity empowering 11-19-year-olds to know their options and find their career paths. Collaborating with businesses and volunteers, we offer opportunities helping to shape the future careers of young people. The impact we have on young people is entirely thanks to our volunteers and we are looking for enthusiastic professionals across Bedfordshire, who are willing to share their experiences with our young people. No minimum commitment, no teaching experience required - your career is the lesson. Give every young person a chance to flourish by providing information and inspiration about the possibilities of their careers. You can do this through: • Industry Insight Sessions: Sharing your career experience and journey with young people in schools to inspire their career aspirations as well as shine a light on the world of work and employment opportunities. (approx. 1 hour) • Employability Skills Workshops: Delivering key employability skills workshops, using pre-prepared resources as well as your own insight and experience to develop student’s transferable skills. (approx. 1 hour) • Digital Content: Record a video or workplace tour to share with young people on our social media • Volunteering independently or as part of a team with colleagues.

We welcome volunteers from all industries and backgrounds e.g. hospitality, health and social care, construction, IT, legal profession, etc. and provide you with: - The opportunity to connect with a different demographic. - Gaining an insight into what makes young people tick as consumers or future employees. - Developing your presentation skills and ability to adapt your presentation style to a younger audience. - Access to potential future talent e.g. interns, work experience, apprentices etc. - Volunteer role development and diversification to help us improve and grow our free programmes to schools.
Most workshops are 1 hour, with some more involved sessions being 2-3 hours. Volunteers are invited to get involved in as many or as few sessions as is reasonably possible amongst your other commitments.
