ABOUT US BAKO Sanctuary CIC walks alongside Sub-Saharan African families in Bedford, Luton, and surrounding areas facing immigration challenges, domestic violence, and systemic exclusion. Led by lived experience, we provide peer support, crisis triage, and empowerment to help vulnerable individuals reclaim their safety and power. THE ROLE We are seeking a trustworthy, community-minded finance volunteer with specific knowledge of the non-profit or social enterprise sector. As a growing CIC, accurate financial tracking is essential to maintaining our compliance and securing future funding. This role is a fantastic opportunity to directly support a grassroots mission while applying your specialised sector skills. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Recording income, donations, grants, and day-to-day expenditure • Managing fund accounting by separating restricted grant funding from unrestricted income • Reconciling bank statements and maintaining clear digital audit trails • Helping the Director organise financial data ahead of annual accounts preparation and the CIC34 Community Interest Report REQUIREMENTS • Essential: Clear understanding of non-profit or third-sector fund accounting (e.g. managing restricted vs. unrestricted funds) • Essential: Familiarity with accounting platforms capable of fund tracking (such as Xero tracking categories, QuickBooks, or Excel) • Desirable: Prior experience working with or volunteering for charities, non-profits, or Community Interest Companies (CICs) • Personal: A strong commitment to data confidentiality, empathy, and supporting under-represented or vulnerable communities HOW TO APPLY Please contact Hazel Muza, Founder and Director, at info@bakosanctuary.org.uk with a brief note about your relevant experience and availability.
